Before knowing the eligibility criteria, you should first be clear about what is Six Sigma? To be precise, it is a standardized statistical tool that would render one with a wide spectrum of knowledge to tackle any business stream and job with a quick, stable, and clear mind.
Six sigma process works through 5 methodologies, which include DMAIC (Define, Measure, Analyze, Improve and Control) or DMADV (Define, Measure, Analyze, Design, and Verify). This Six Sigma certification program consists of 5 levels. They are a white belt, yellow belt, green belt, black belt, and master black belt. You will be nurtured with all required orientation regarding this if you get enrolled in institutes like Amile institute.
The white belt is the primary level. It is all about knowing what Six Sigma is. This will boost your credibility on certain core concepts. The yellow belt is officially the first level of Six Sigma certification. This will introduce you to the skills required for Six Sigma, and you would understand and do a certain amount of participation in the Six Sigma projects. The green belt will teach you advanced core concepts and make you completely clear about the six sigma components and ideologies and prepare you for the black belt. Now coming to the black belt level, this is an advanced Black Belt Six Sigma Certification. You would be a pro at this level itself. Finally, the master black belt is to make you an expert. The foundation laid by the previous levels will help you cross this level with great ease. Now that you are clear about the levels let us know about the eligibility criteria now.
There are no fixed eligibility criteria to pursue Six Sigma certifications. But there are still certain requirements to take up the tests at each level, which are purely for the candidate’s comfort, without which it would be highly challenging. As mentioned earlier, the requirements differ from each level. The first two levels are the White belt and the yellow belt, which doesn’t have any requirements. But for Green belt, you should have a minimum of 3 years of experience in a full-time job so that it would be easy for you to clear a 100 mark MCQ test in 4 hours and get certified. You can very well take the black belt test without the certifications of the previous levels. But you must have lead and completed two projects with a minimum of 3 years of experience. Finally, for the Master black belt, you should have a black belt and five years of experience.
